For the weeks I spent reading every juicer review I could scour from the Net, I thought I’d nailed a sure winner, particularly with all of the stars here in Amazon. My experience wasn’t one of the stellar ones. While it is possible I simply picked a slightly lemony creature, I think I’ll give Breville a miss for now and focus on some of the other brands with which I am more familiar at least by word of mouth.
What went wrong?
(1) After dutifully running all appropriate parts through the TOP shelf of a dishwasher exactly as the Manual exhorted, the food pusher – seemingly hermetically sealed – suddenly had 2-3 Tbsp. of liquid sloshing around in it. I couldn’t even find a way to uncork it and let it out. I read the book again. Nothing. I emailed Breville, who in their favor jumped on the admin to send me the email forms to let me FedEx the part back to them lickety-split. However, the plot deepened…. Before I could do that, other problems arose.
(2) Neither the cutesy little rubber spout nor the plastic juice jug kept my walls free from splattering. I couldn’t make the bits fit any more tightly. This vroom-vroom machine simply had more “go” than finesse. That was NOT okay.
(3) After phoning Breville (it only took 2 days to get through), a man who ID’d himself as the manager did what you DON’T do with a dissatisfied customer: Explain to said customer what THEY are doing WRONG. Bad move. When it was pointed out to me how it was clearly MY fault (the splattering), he lost me. Psych 101 says “Don’t Defend Yourself.” I think he was overdue a snack break or something…..
I’m sending it back. For close to $200, I want a machine that makes me WANT to go to the trouble to make juice. While spiffy and speedy, this machine was not it.

I felt like a kid on Christmas Day when the FedEx guy delivered my juicer. We’ve been spending lots of money on our “Green Fix” at the farmer’s market, so I’ve been dying for my own juicer.
Just today I unpacked the Breville, carefully removed all plastic & packaging, and washed according to instructions. I also reassembled according to instructions, turned the dial to recommended speed and gently placed a few cut celery stalks into the mouth while the motor was running. We only got as far as one half a stalk before the motor burned out.
If one half of a celery stalk burns out the motor, how in the world can one juice BEETS?!
Since it’s Saturday, customer service is closed. I hope I get a replacement for the money I just shelled out. Dang. I was so looking forward to this.

I’ve only used my new Breville juicer twice. Both times it leaked all over my kitchen counter and the pulp was filled with liquid. Since there were such good ratings on this product… I thought this would be a winner. I was wrong. I emailed the company and they said I should buy a new filter or clean it. After many years of owning juicers… I was shocked at this reply. So…. This defective juicer is being returned… thank goodness I ordered it from Amazon. The Breville company didn’t help at all.

This is undoubtedly an excellent juicer. My only objection is the price. I wished it was about 20-30% cheaper. Besides it’s made in China where labor and materials are much lower than Australia and US.
