Breville BOV800XL The Smart Oven 1800-Watt Convection Toaster Oven with Element IQ

This is a fine little oven. It seems to do what it is supposed to do, and I would recommend it for a small kitchen or for one or two people who don’t want to be firing up their big oven to do a small job.
As far as likening it to an Apple computer, maybe so, but I saw no resemblence and who really cares about that sort of thing anyway. It was packed nicely but not any different from other products that I have bought recently. I saw no great improvement in the manuals or other paper that accompany the unit either, at least nothing to write home about. How does comparing it to a Mac computer improve its desireability? I would suspect that Breville would not particularly enjoy being labeled the Apple computer of the toaster ovens, since this is a foreign company, since the oven is foreign made, and since Apple computers are utilized even less outside the USA than inside the USA where Mac’s are a long, long ways from being in first place. However, Breville might surely be delighted if it were compared to a PC, but it is an oven, I think, not a ‘puter.
Anyway, I am glad I purchased it even though I was certainly initially turned off by the silly Apple comparisons; so far it has done everything that I want it to do, but it is not a panacea as some of the Mac-heads want to say it is.

This by-far is the best oven I have ever owned. It cooks very well, and the stainless steal is so easy to keep clean. I would rate it a 10, if the ratings were that high. Don’t hesitate about the price, it is worth every pennie. I love Breville, they produce excellent products. I’ve got my eye on the Citrus Juicer that Breville makes, that will be my next purchase.I highly recommend it.
6/1/09- I need to change my review to Excellent. I really like this small oven after using it for a while.

I bought this from Williams Sonoma and found that the “extra” accessories that they show you that you “can” purchase are not actually available anywhere. Not on their website, not at Williams Sonoma, not anywhere. Other than that, it’s a nice oven.

As a piece of kitchen equipment easy to use with multiple options, this is well done. It is expensive however. And, as a toaster, I feel non-green toasting anything less than 6 pieces at a time. Makes a wonderful Pizza however. I wait for the upgrade so I can record Rachel Ray and other cooking shows. Maybe they’d put a pop up flat screen? About the only thing lacking.

I just bought the Breville Convection Oven a couple of weeks ago. This is not a review of the oven but only a commentary on the included enamel roasting pan. The pan is terrible. I gave it one star because, unlike teflon coated roasting pans, it looks as if the enamel on the pan is permanent and will not flake off. It is still too early to tell. What is absolutely terrible about the pan is that it warps significantly in the oven. It folds up on opposite corners like an envelope and it is useless. I am not even sure if this is safe to cook food on. I am surprised considering that the build quality of the rest of the oven seems solid. Breville needs to remake the pan for this oven.
